What is a casa worker?

A casa worker, also known as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, is a volunteer who is appointed by a judge to represent the best interests of a child in the foster care system. Casa workers undergo specialized training to learn about the child welfare system, child development, and how to advocate on behalf of the child they are assigned to.

Casa workers work closely with social workers, attorneys, and other professionals involved in the child's case to gather information, make recommendations to the court, and ensure that the child's needs are being met. They visit the child regularly, attend court hearings, and communicate with the child's caregivers to ensure that the child is safe and well cared for.

Casa workers play a crucial role in advocating for the rights and well-being of children in foster care, and their work can have a significant impact on the outcomes for these vulnerable children.
